Default From one year work visa toward longer term visa or permanent visa?

    Hi all,

So here is y question. I worked for two seasons in NZ and now I am caming for the third one. Every time I get one year work visa. I am thinking of making things more permanent, eg stay for longer time, with perhaps moving to NZ permanently. What would be my next step? Can and should I ask for longer term work visa, or something?

    Thanks

If you have a permanent or long-term contract for skilled work, you could look at applying for Residence under the Skilled Migrant Scheme. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...nt/default.htm

This visa takes quite a long time to be processed, since all the details of your qualifications and work experience have to be checked out in detail. Therefore, you may need to apply for another work visa to keep you legally working while all that processing for SMC goes on.
