    Default Confused about forms

    I'm confused - please help!
I am a New Zealand citizen by birth and married to an American. We currently live in US and are thinking about making the move to NZ. I'm not sure about what forms to use for my husbands application: Residence Application INZ 1000 or Partnership Based Temporary INZ 1198. I called immigration and they told me 1198. Why would I complete a temporary application over residence?

That's all depends how quickly you want to be in NZ. If you have 3-4 months then apply for residence and don't worry about a temporary visa, If you want to be here sooner then apply for a temporary visa, using the 1198 form. You might expect that to be decided in 3-4 weeks. There's not point in applying for temporary visa if you have already lived together for 12 months or more, and are not in a hurry to move to NZ
