Default Income source on work visa

So, I am on a work visa which is tied to my job, and have recently sent off the residency application (the ITA). Now, I have recently taken on more tasks at work, and turns out the extra work is to be paid cash and I have to arrange to pay the tax on it myself, in comparison to my normal workload which is on a normal contract and I get paid per fortnight. The extra work is the same as my work visa is for, but payment is in a different form... The question here is if I can take cash for work, and pay the tax on it as I go along, or if I need to make changes to my visa for this? The question has come up if I am able to invoice customers, which I am obviously not... However, I have been told it would be preferable if I could. It's a bit of a nightmare, and I would like not to turn down extra work, but if I can't do this on my visa, then I won't. Anyone got any advice?

Is this extra work for your employer who is named on your visa? As, if not, you need to talk to INZ about getting the conditions of your work visa varied.

See here http://www.enz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43412, noting post #6, and here http://www.enz.org/forum/showthread....094#post493094.
