anybody have advise about archery?

Does any body know if or where to get a license to have a archery bow? I do plan on hunting when I get there but don't care for guns so I would like to take my compound bow. Could I go there first and get clearance to ship them in later? Or will it be cheaper to replace them there?

This hunting site http://www.alpinehunting.com/firearms.html, and several other similar ones, says there is no special procedure for importing a bow and arrows, and I can't find any mention of archery gear in anything from NZ Customs. That being the case, it looks as though you only need to think about the MPI regulations for biosecurity http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/enter/personal, the same as for all your possessions. I guess, as they will think as you may have used your bow and arrows for hunting before, they will check that there is no trace of plant, insect or animal life on them.
