Yeah, we have a huge shortage of receptionists in New Zealand, especially people with degrees in science. You should apply today.

To get a visa for NZ, you need to show, by qualification and work experience, that you have a skill that is in demand, i.e. where there is a lack of NZers able to do that work. You seem not to have done a job that specifically uses the knowledge gained in either of your degrees. I know that medical administrators can need specialist knowledge (the amount depending on the size and nature of the employment), but for that, you don't seem to have a qualification. So at the moment, there is a mismatch, and you would be unlikely to meet the requirements for the visas described on the INZ website. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...k/workperm.htm

There isn't any specific route to a work or residence visa simply because a family member is in the country, no.

Obviously, you could apply for a visitor's visa to have a holiday with him, but you wouldn't have the right to stay. Even if you were offered a job by a NZ employer, you couldn't work without a suitable visa, and you couldn't get a visa unless you met the requirements - and then we're back to the situation that you don't meet the requirements.

The only thing I can think of is that you could try to find work, either in your original home country or in the UK, to use your specialist knowledge, then a few years from now, you would be able to apply as a skilled migrant. But that would need you to carry out a long plan of action. It's nothing you could do straight away.

The other thought that occurs to me is that possibly, if you could afford it, you could apply to follow a course of study in NZ - if you were offered a place, you could get a student visa. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...yinnewzealand/ But again, this is not a permanent right to stay, just covering the length of the course.

Hi Bipandeep, look on the NZ immigration website it explains ways to live in NZ. If you do your research you may find you can meet some of requirements for the Skilled Migrant Category or Business and investment categories http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/live . Also, you don't say how old you are or if your brother is a new zealand resident/citizen or whether you have a partner. If you are 20-29 years old and your brother is a new zealand resident or citizen, you would actually score 100points which is enough to apply for residence via Skilled Migrant Category. The points calculator for Skilled Migrant Category is here https://www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator. You could also look at the Silver Fern visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ork/silverfern. If you are under 30, you could look into working holiday visa's, but this depends which passport you have http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...orkingholiday/
    Good luck.
P.S. as JandM said a study visa could also be an option if you want to study more!

Unfortunately, although one can APPLY with 100 points, no EOI for someone without the offer of a skilled job has been selected with as few as 100 for a long, long time. Realistically, these days, nobody without a skilled job offer is going to be selected unless they have 140 points at least.
