Visitor Visa for Parents

Hi All,

I have a general question regarding parent's visitor visa.

My parents applied for a visiting visa to NZ on a single application.

Now, father wants to return in 3-months. Can mother stay for 6-months? or she also needs to return back as father is primary applicant?

It says valid for 6-months from port of entry.

So she can stay for the full time mentioned. It doesn't matter if your father chooses not to use the whole time he was granted.

Hi JandM and Others,

Its been a long time I opened this thread and would like to continue on the same thread.
So that people will get information at the same place.

My parents visited NZ for 4 - months and I am applying for visitor visa again (normal one and not parent category multiple entry visitor visa).

Now the question is, can I apply normally and will INZ approve their application?
Or do I need to specifically mention in the cover letter saying they will stay for 5 - months only?

Hi JandM,

First time when my parents traveled, my mother submitted chest x-ray. But we did not apply for an extension and they left after staying 4-months here.
Now, I would like my father to submit chest x-ray and when they come here, I want to extend their stay (if INZ approves single entry for 5 - months + 3-months extension here).

Please help me out in this situation.

I think you need to check with INZ about the timings you have in mind. If someone has had the longest visa they could be issued at the time (not talking about any extensions), then INZ require them to be out of the country for the equivalent amount of time before they can come back again. This can partly depend on whether or not they stayed for the whole length of the visa they had, as well as how long it is since the last trip when they want to travel again. So I don't think you can be sure of working this out right for yourself - ask INZ, to be safe.
