    Default NZ Police Certificate request

    Hi All,

I submitted my Essential work visa (Employer assisted) on the 9th Oct '14. My job is under LTSSL (313112). I called up INZ today to ask on the update on my application and i got to know a CO is been assigned and they are waiting on for a NZ Police certificate for me from NZ Police. On my last work visa application 3 months back, I did submit a Police certificate from the Indian Consulate in Wellington.

Is this normal for INZ to ask for a NZ Police certificate even though I am not a NZ citizen/resident.

How long have you been living in NZ?

So NZ comes under the heading of a country that you have spent at least 12 months in over the last ten years, and yes, therefore, they do have to see a NZ police certificate, to make sure you haven't been convicted of any crimes during your time in NZ. (But INZ always ask for NZ police certificates directly, which is why you haven't had to do anything about it yourself.)
