    Default Bonus points for identified future growth area or an area of absolute skills shortage - without qualification?

    Hello.

    I have 6 years of work experience in ICT outside NZ and almost two years of NZ work experience in exactly the same area. I do not have my qualifications assessed by NZQA nor I want to do that now.

    Can I claim bonus points for identified future growth area and an area of absolute skills shortage - without ANY recognized qualifications, just based on my work experience in future growth and absolute skills shortage areas?

    You cannot claim these bonus points unless:
    * you have skilled employment in New Zealand in an area of absolute skills shortage and the specialist, technical or managerial expertise required for that employment was obtained through the completion of this qualification.
    Can someone explain to what "this qualification" refers?

    Thanks.

    Obviously from the context, 'this qualification' is something that has been previously mentioned in whatever it is you're looking at. What are you quoting from? Please give a link.

    if you already have employment in New Zealand , two years of experi3wnce here and more than 8 years experience in total, do you really need to claim these bonus points? With your job offer you only need 100 points for your EOP be selected. There is no advantage in claiming more than 100 points.

    @JandM

    It's a question in "Principal Applicant's Skilled Employment" section.

    @ChrisMwn
    My EOI is already selected, so I'm thinking now to make a correction if I actually do not meet requirements for bonus points.

    Oh, I see. So it's about claiming bonus points for having a qualification in one of the areas of absolute skills shortage, as it says on the first line of that image. Then the 'PLEASE NOTE' section, which contains your original quote, is referring back to the qualification you would be claiming for.

    Only you've decided you don't need to claim anyway.

    It's confusing because it's a section purely related to skilled employment. It's not clear if qualification=degree or qualification means that you are qualified to do the job.

    Additionaly, question in the same section
    What is your main occupation in New Zealand?
    If I say "261313 Software Engineer", do I have to provide any evidence qualification/degree wise, or my employment contract with the job description is enough to cover that claim?

    ANZSCO requires/allows that you have 5 years of relevant experience to substitute for the qualifaction, so therefore no need to claim points for the qualification.

    (You presumably have 100 points with Age, Work Experience, NZ Work Experience and Job offer points?

    Yes I do and yes - I don't want to bother with the qualifications and NZQA , but I'm not 100% sure if skilled employment under Software Engineering occupation implicitly requires a recognized qualification because of the "Engineer" in the title regardless of sufficient work experience?
