    Default Advice needed

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good immigration company in Wellington?

I am a kiwi guy married with a Chinese wife and stepson. I lived in China for a year and a half and half with my wife and then had to come back to New Zealand to find a new job. I now have a new job in Wellington and would like my wife and stepson to move to New Zealand.

My wife is reluctant to come to New Zealand on a work visa because our son is 20 years old and we would like to get a residency visa for both of them before he turns 21 in July next year.

Does it count against us that we are living apart right now? I would have stayed in China but was made redundant by the New Zealand company I was working remotely for. I have been back in New Zealand on my own for the last five months.

    Thanks

Pm me when you can. Your stepson can be dependent up to the age of 25.

He doesn't have to be under 21 to be sponsored for Residence as a dependent child. http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/...ntchildren.htm http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ly/default.htm

No, it doesn't count against you. As you can see from the note at the bottom here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...artnership.htm, INZ understand that there can be times when you have to be apart from your partner. When you can show a good reason, like your work/visa situation, that meant you had to come back to NZ, and such things as phone record, emails, and other electronic communications, plus probably bank records of funds passing between you, they can see the partnership is still in place.

    Thanks for the advice. :-)

We decided to use an immigration adviser based in China.
He is a registered/qualified adviser and is close to where my wife lives.

I am in the process of collecting up all the evidence of the relationship.
Most of our conversations have been using WeChat.
Unfortunately WeChat only lets you export 100 messages at a time and we have thousands so it is going to take a long time to export it all.

If anyone has any advice on how many messages/emails to show that would be great.
I could just show a few hundred that cover a wide range of situations or I could just show them all and completely overwhelm the immigration department with information.

My wife is having to deal with corrupt police in China. It is such a pain in the a*s.
She got told that our son could not have a police certificate because he got into a fight when he was 16 at school.
They are only saying it so that we will bribe them to get the certificate.
She is going to see a friend that is in the Police to get there help.

I am filling out the Partner support form and noticed on the back that it says that I need a police certificate for every country that I have lived in over the last ten years for more than 12 months.
Reading on the immigration website it says...

"Non-Chinese citizens – You will only be able to apply for a police certificate if you hold a Foreigner’s Residence Permit. If you do not hold a Foreigner’s Residence Permit then a statutory declaration as described under the “Procedures” section at the beginning of this page must be submitted."

When I look at the top of the page I can't see a "Procedures" section. Can anyone point to me where I should be looking?
I lived China for one and half years on tourist visa's and I am assuming that I need the statutory declaration rather than the police certificate because I was not on a Foreigner’s Residence Permit.

It's under the heading 'If police certificates are unavailable', on the sort of title page of that whole section of the INZ site, here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ertificate.htm

    Thanks :-)

Nice of them to say "at the beginning of this page" and then put the information at the end.
