Default gathering documents for visa application

    Hello,

My boyfriend is planning to apply for skilled migrant visa in a few months and I will apply as his partner. If everything goes as planned, he will have a job offer from a NZ employer. We are gathering all the necessary documents and I have a few questions concerning this:
    - How do I prove my working experience when I wasn`t formally employed (I was working on the contract)?
    - We asked our university for a transcript of our diploma. Is this document enough to prove the education or do we need to bring the original in slovene language as well?
    - I was living in Spain on and off from 2007 to 2009. Is it necessary to state this in the application? I`m afraid it is impossible for me to get a police certificate since I`m not in Spain ...
    - The potential employer of my boyfriend claims that his company is accredited for employment of foreigners but he is not on the list on Immigration NZ page. You think it is possible the list is not accurate or he`s just not telling the truth?

Thank you so much for your help, wish you a great day!

Your work experience is unnecessary for both visas your partner may be applying for.

Although people tend to think about 'our' application, it is really the skilled worker's application that matters, with the partner as an extra, on the basis that once you prove the partnership, you get the visa.

If your boyfriend gets a job offer, it is likely he will need to apply first for a temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra.../requirements/, because this can be processed most quickly so he can get to NZ and start working without keeping the employer waiting. Along with this (linked with a covering letter) he can send all the necessary for you for a partner-sponsored temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm

At the same time as this, or just afterwards, he would be able to apply for Residence under the Skilled Migrant Category. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...nt/default.htm This process starts with filling in an EOI (see that link and the INZ website for explanations), and this would include you as partner. For this, if he needs to claim points for your qualification, it would have to be proved, but apart from that your career isn't relevant.

We asked our university for a transcript of our diploma. Is this document enough to prove the education or do we need to bring the original in slovene language as well?
INZ will need to see the originals. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ce/default.htm

I was living in Spain on and off from 2007 to 2009. Is it necessary to state this in the application? I`m afraid it is impossible for me to get a police certificate since I`m not in Spain.
This is going to sound harsh, but it's important. You are dealing with the law of New Zealand here. You can't just ignore what they tell you to do because it's not convenient. Yes, you must tell them that you were in Spain between those dates, otherwise, if you don't, and this shows up at some future point (which it may well do because there is co-operation and connection between the immigration services of many countries), you could be accused of fraud while making your application, and your visa would be cancelled.

Here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...e/st/spain.htm are the instructions for obtaining a police certificate for Spain.

The potential employer of my boyfriend claims that his company is accredited for employment of foreigners but he is not on the list on Immigration NZ page. You think it is possible the list is not accurate or he`s just not telling the truth?
An employer can choose if he wants his business to appear on that list, or not. Some would rather not be on a public list, because people trying to get a visa apply to them whether or not they are advertising a vacancy, and it takes up their working time to deal with that.

    Dear JandM,

I have another question concerning this post:
since we`re from Slovenia we have to translate almost all the required documents, only a few can be issued in english language. Do you know if these translated documents need to have the "apostille stamp" or is it enough if the translation is made by a court interpreter? Also, if we send original documents with the application, do the INZ send them back to us after the process is completed?

Thank you for your answer, warm regards

Here is what INZ say about translations. http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/...anslations.htm

Yes, INZ return your original documents.
