Default When do Labour Shortages Occur?

I believe that people on a visitors to New Zealand can get a 'variation of conditions' to their visa which allows them to undertake horticultural work during labour shortages.

Does anybody have some historical data regarding when these labour shortages normally occur? Do they normally happen every year or are they very unusual?

    Any input would be appreciated.

Is there a link where you read about this?

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...andvit/voc.htm Here it is. And here's the INZ instruction to staff. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...124Dec2014.pdf I see there is one in force at the moment.

I just Googled for news of NZ declared labour shortage, and here are the hits https://www.google.co.uk/#q=Immigrat...abour+shortage. Nothing is coming up from the INZ website as a record of previous declarations. From this and common sense, it's clear that they're going to happen, if at all, at the time of the harvest for various crops around the country. The harvest times are approximately predictable, but the amount of workers already around that year, and available, isn't.

I found this advertisement aimed at employers. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...rShortages.pdf You might be able to get more information about how often shortages arise from the regional co-ordinators mentioned there.

Kiwi Fruit is harvested in March but they start taking on people for it anytime from now ready for its collection. A lot of islanders are regular visitors for this process here in the Bay hope this helps. Try searching Zespri or Seeka who are the main recruiters. Cheers Anni
