Default After permanent resident visa is obtained

    Hello forum,

I was granted a resident visa, and I am about to complete the 2 year commitment to NZ and then apply for a permanent resident visa.
After I get PR visa, I want to live in another country for a year on working holiday visa ( I just turned 30 so this will be my last opportunity to live abroad freely).

Could going to Australia, for example, to live on WHV right after obtaining NZ PR visa affect the NZ visa in any way?
Although I don't think it will, I want to make sure I can come back to NZ after my long holiday, after all NZ is my home now.

    Thank you

No. Once a PR, always a PR.

Thank you very much Swearwolves and JandM!
I guess I'll start getting ready for my holiday then! :-)

That's not necessarily true. You could, in theory, apply for NZ citizenship after about 3 years from now and then live and work in Australia as long as you like.

its better to take citizen ship and get the passport and then move with free of mind.. any where if you want..
in least condition , PR is the minimum target...

so long as while you are in the Citizenship process you can meet your obligations under your declaration that you "intend to continue to reside in New Zealand"
