    Default Guidance Please about Visas

    Hi All

We recently decided to Immigrate to NZ and would like to make the move as smooth and cost effective as possible.

But all the nitty gritty's are confusing and overwhelming at this time. We will basically immigrate under the SMC.
At this stage we are getting all our documents together and organising translations ext. to ensure that we do not experience delays later at crucial times.

I understand it as follows: (Please correct me if I am wrong)
I use a Work Visa to move to NZ (INZ1015)

My partner (Husband) will need to use a partnership based Visum (INZ 1198)
My 2 Children that is almost school going age will need to use Student Visas (INZ 1012)
And my infant Child will need to use a Visitors Visum (INZ1017)

I plan to do my expression of interest as soon as I am in NZ. I am afraid that if I do that now it might come through to late as my application will depend on a job-offer, and I can't expect a job-offer to remain open indefinately.

I would like to know if I have to apply for all these different types of visas and do I pay for 5 visas separately.
I am also confused as to if I have to apply for mine first as all the other visas are technically dependant on my Visum.

Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

SMC....... means u will receive residency visa not the work visa
Your partner can be included in ur application if u need.

No need of student visa for your kids and they all can be included in ur application as dependent child.

No need to apply all the visas separately if your submitting application Under SMC ....But need to reach the points threshold to get selected......your partner will add points to your application if he is qualified as mentioned in Immigration Newzealand website......I started to study all these matters before 6 years and finally applied recently...So I suggest please go through the http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ thoroughly and then decide on ur application.....and this forum is equally helpfull like that website and there are great advisers here to support you.....take care and bye

When you have a NZ skilled job offer, you can apply for your temporary work visa (of whatever kind)http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ply/essential/, your husband's partner-sponsored temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm, your school-age children's student visas http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...yinnewzealand/ (no need for a letter from the school - that requirement is for people entering tertiary education), and your pre-school child's visitor's visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...rs/default.htm, all at once, linking the lot with a covering letter. The CO will then work this as one case, and will supply whatever is not known up front (e.g. your visa number) as it becomes available. And yes, you will have to pay the fee for each of those visas.

And yes, if you want to you can wait to put in your EOI for residence under SMC, or otherwise you can do that at the same time as all the other visas, when you've got your job offer. The one application will cover the whole family.

Your husband has to apply for his visa, and you fill in the form supporting that application. The student visa applications and the visitor visa application are filled in as if they were written by each child, but one of you parents signs on their behalf at the end.
