they ask about the relationship, and each others families

Sometimes also things like the domestic arrangements - who does the cooking, when they put the rubbish out. Also things like the other partner's favourite food, or TV programmes. These things are easy for genuine partners, but would catch out anyone pretending to know the other partner just for the sake of a visa.
