Default Relation between Credit History and Immigration

Will bad credit history have an impact in immigration process?

It can do if the bad debts have led to any court case(s).

Also, some visas require a person to show the availability of some funds for their own support, which could be difficult if they have debts.

What visa are you asking about applying for?

    Hi JandM,

    Thank you for the response.

Planning to apply for a PR under Skilled Migrant Category. I have lived there 3 years ago for a period of 2 years and now want to return back.

Well, there isn't any requirement to show you have money for that one. As I said before, if bad debts have led to a court case, it could show up on the police check that you need for the character requirement. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/35052.htm

Notice, the visa you hope to be applying for under SMC is now called Residence. PR is a separate visa you can get after living on a Residence visa for a minimum of two years, and meeting various other requirements.
