Question Work Visa vs Work to Residence

    Hi Everyone

Can someone clarify something for me please? If my husband has a job offer at an accredited firm he can apply for a work to residence visa, but partners and kids cannot be included in this visa according to the immigration website. Seeing as a visitor visa can only be maximum 9 months and my skills are not specialized enough this seems like a bad option (work to residence) as the entire family will not be able to go or go only for 9 months?

If he gets the job offer, can he apply for a normal work visa? As i understand i will then get an open visa and the kids student visas under his work visa?? Can he get the work visa purely on the job offer, then submit EOI and continue with the rest? How long will it take to get a work visa? This seems like a better option for the entire family?

I'm worried his employer does not want to wait to long so is either of the above visas quicker than the other?

    Please help!!

    Thanks

On either visa, the spouse can get a partner-sponsored temporary work visa http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm, and the children, student visas http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/study/, to match the work/WTR visa for length of time.

Thanks JandM, I see under the ones I mentioned partners and children can't be included in the application. So according to the link you gave me it will just be separate applications for the partner/ kids

You complete all the application forms and submit them at the same time.
