    In terms of social benifits etc, any difference?

    No there isn't much difference in terms of benefits except what you have already stated.

    As far as living inside NZ is concerned, a resident visa holder is already a permanent resident. A PR visa does nothing to change that; it simply allows you to travel in and out of NZ freely.

    See if this applies to you. There are subtle differences b/w these visas. Factor in the no. of years of stay in NZ and you will likely see more differences. See if these even matter to you
