Default Acc or private insurance claim

Husband tore his archilles recently and we went to emergency room. It was covered under Acc as it accident related. The hospital put his leg in a cast no scans and not seen by a specialist yet with a come back in 2 weeks time to see the specialist. My husband is a sports coach and 40 so not in a chair bound job so we want to opt for surgical repair. We don't understand the Acc or insurance system enough to understand if there would be a difference in speed and treatment through Acc channel or private insurance which we have. Shouldn't treatment be allowed to patient be the same regardless with a specialist opinion? Would speed of process be different throug Acc or private insurance. We now have first get an earlier appointment with the specialist. Funnily, the specialist is the same person under the insurance provider and provided for by Acc.Any experience or advice appreciated.

I would say it probably would be quicker to go through your private insurance. But if you make a claim under your insurance, is there anything in the policy that says you would lose any no claims bonus, or something similar.?

ACC will be about as fast as "private cover" and will include more complicated surgery if that's required.
