Question Wanting to bring my husbands little sister to new zealand . HELP!

    Hi there.

Hoping someone would be able to help point us in the right direct on this.

My husband recently just got approved residence visa under partnership which we are so relieved about.

We have always thought of the idea of bring his little sister (age 22) from Morocco to NZ to potentially live with us.

Both Parents are deceased and although there are brothers and sisters there, we would ideally love for her to come to nz and work and make a life for herself here with us.

Can someone point us in the right direction? We want to get her here asap and have thought about her comming on a tourist visa for 9 months and while she is here perhapes trying to find work and then change her visa type on the basis of her work ? would that be a good option?

    thanks

Does his sister have any skilled qualifications? The requirements for her to get a visa for NZ will be those for any adult worker, or student. There is no way, at her age, she could count as his dependent.

Yes, she could come in as a visitor and look for work http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...20June2014.pdf, but she would have to get a job that is either skilled in line with her skills, or for which the employer has not been able to get a NZ national or residence holder (and in that last case, the situation could change in a short time, and then she would not be allowed to renew her visa when it expired). http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...entialwork.htm

Or she could possibly do a course of study. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...hatisrequired/ If she studied on a course that would qualify her for a job on the skills shortage lists, she would have a good chance of getting permission to stay on afterwards.

She has studied tourism in Morocco and that's about it. We have thought about her coming to study in NZ as well and get some NZ qualifications under her belt...if its for tourism again..although she has expressed interest in becoming a nurse as well.

Thanks for your help re options JandM, much appreciated
