How long the EOI will take?

Hi Guys

Me and My wife are busy submitting EOI. I am just waiting for the results of our PAR so we can finish the submission. We are expecting our points to go above 140.

I just want to know how long it will take from EOI to next step of submitting application. So can start preparing documents accordingly (I am hoping we will be selected).

Also, I am an India working in South Africa for last 4 years. What immigration office I will be submitting my application later on?

I also noticed that get IQA is bloody expensinve $700+ per person. Is there any other workaround for this.

EOI applications are selected fortnightly. Once your EOI is selected, INZ will do a preliminary verification to ensure that you indeed have the required points (>=140) and issue an ITA(Invitation to Apply). You have to submit all the documents/proof along with your application form (present in ITA pack) within 4 months from the date of issuing ITA. No extensions will be given by INZ if you are unable to meet the deadline.

Your application will most likely be processed in London as far as i know. If your qualifications are not on the exempted list then you have to get your qualifications assessed by NZQA.

A better approach would be to get IQA first followed by EOI. This will atleast save you approx 250$$ required for PAR.

Thanks a lot for the response.

I already have applied PAR for my wife, who has Regular Masters. I on the other hand have a part time Masters Degree, so I want to do a PAR to be sure what level NZQA will give me. So I guess 250$$ saving is gone :-(.

What I sense from your answer is that, I should get ready for IQA while I am busy filing EOI. This seems to be something which will take longest, I guess? I saw that I need transcript of my qualifications to get EOI, which can be time consuming for me to get. Specially I am in South Africa, where as I studied in India. Is there a way I get IQA without transcript, and with just my certificates?

Is there something else you suggest me, that I should focus on in order to make sure I don't miss 4 months deadline.

There isn't a quick or 'slip past it' way round any of this. You're dealing with an agency that is part of the NZ government, checking you out on behalf of them. They have the upper hand, so what they want, we give them, even when it's a nuisance.

Notice that when you put in your application for IQA, you need to use the form at Appendix B here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...ifications.pdf to tell them exactly which career you are submitting, and which degrees you are hoping yours will be equivalent to, in case of claiming for bonus points under LTSSL.

Thanks for the reply. I asked this because there has been lot of confusion on forum that what documents are required are for IQA. Some says originals, some saying Certified copies but nobody speaking about transcript. Which for me is the hardest part. But I guess reading the guide is the best option. I will go through it now.

I went through the link, and I am confused again. One of the link says NZQA will be happy with certified copies and the guidelines says "
Include all original documents (officially translated to English) relating to your IQA assessment " . I don't feel comfortable sending all my Originals to a different country over some courier. Do you maybe know if NZQA accepts Certified Copies of original docs?

(There are hundreds of people whose posts you see on the forum who have sent in their valuable documents. NZQA and INZ are well used to dealing with this in a secure way, and sending them back.)

At some point in time, if your application gets through you would be required to send passport (yes original one)- would you not do that via courier to a different country?

The more information you provide to NZQA, the better they can assess a qualification. This probably will also help them to cross check details through you/university or any other agencies dealing in the assessment process.

Police certificate from South Africa and India are needed too, so depending on how long the former (SA Police cert) takes, either that or IQA will end up taking the longest (I'm addressing your question of which one takes the longest).

Then, you asked about transcripts. They are the same as mark sheets so you already have them. No need to get them certified. Not sure if you thought transcripts were different from marksheets? And which is why you think it is difficult to get them? I suppose you have your work experience related documents as well.

Besides, if you want to send out certified work exp, a notary in SA should be able to certify them.

Although not mentioned in the guide, folks on this forum generally suggest sending a photocopy of each original /certified document as well to NZQA so they keep one for their records. I did not send photocopies but you please plan on sending one yourself.

Thanks for your replies. Reading through guides again cleared me that originals will be required to send. And there is no other options except from sending it via courier. I think I have start reading about some trust worthy courier now.

Thanks for the answers around PCC. SA PCC can take upto 2 months, so I guess I should apply it now.

On transcripts - I think this is last confusion I have now. I thought its some new document I need to get from university, if its same as detail mark sheet then I have it. My detail mark sheet does mention the subjects we covered during the course. Can I confirm this with NZQA somehow? Or you guys confident that transcript is same as detail mark sheet.
