Default Pension advice regarding 5 years after 50

    Hi folks.
I have read all the requirements regarding eligibility for a NZ pension and most likely will get professional advice at some stage.
But one question that I have for the moment is regarding the requirement to have lived in NZ for 5 years since the age of 50.
Does the 5 year requirement have to be continuous?
Can I be deemed to be living in NZ and travel overseas (USA, Canada and Europe) for 6 months per year?
If I decide to travel overseas for 9 months per year (rather than 6 months) can I still be classified as living in NZ (but on holiday)
I see the govt website mention 2 periods for travel overseas but this is only in relation to receiving the pension and may not be relevant to the 5 year period I am looking for advice on.

    Just for info:
I have been working the last 30 years in Australia but now plan to return to my property in Christchurch.
I was born in NZ but left when I was 20.
I have lived in NZ more than 10 years since turning 20.
It is just the 5 years since turning 50 requirement I need advice on.
I retired a few weeks ago and now my thoughts are to travel as much as I can

Thanks in advance for any thoughts
    Brian

Well done. Sorry nobody came up with anything - as you say, it's complicated to know about.
