7-9 months to assign a case officer

Yesterday a letter from INZ confirmed that my application materials had received. It also mentioned that a case officer would be allocated in 7 to 9 months. That's amazing, it's so long even if my employment is in the long-term shortage list as a software engineer. I'd like to ask if any one else also need to wait so long?

Yes, at times it is like that.

This all depends on how many applications have been received just before yours and at the same time as yours, by the INZ office that will process your case. Things are worked in date order, like being in a queue and waiting your turn. This is not affected by how highly qualified you are - they don't pick certain files first.
