    Default Extending Passport Expiry Date

    Hi,

At the time requesting my 1.5 year daughter's passport initially, Passport controller said me fill up the validity of the passport as 3 years, since child is growing up rapidly. But they gave me an option to fill it as 10 years as well. But I chose 3 years.

Now almost 1 year is over after the passport creation. If I'm to extend her passport validity, when should I do it; after SMC visa stamped or before?

And If I'm to do after 3 years time what should be the procedure in NZ?

    Thanks.

In your place, I would do it before. Then all you have to do is notify INZ that she has a new passport, and they will put the visa in that. Otherwise, if you get her passport changed after it has the visa in it, you will have to pay an extra fee to get the visa changed from the old passport to the new one.
