Either "identified future growth area 10 Points" or "area of absolute skill shortage 10 Points" can be claimed, but not both.

You can try to calculate using the points indicator: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator/

Future growth area bonus points (for qualification and work experience) are only available for those with a skilled job offer in NZ. Absolute skills area bonus points are what you can claim instead, usually, if you have no job offer.

The points checker on the INZ website is not always totally reliable, and can be misleading. It is better to check the regulations for yourself, as you know your situation better than anyone else can. See here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/6954.htm SM6 has a chart of all available points, and the other sections tell you the detailed requirements to be able to claim those points.

    Dear JandM,

Is there any link to confirm that I can only claim Future growth area bonus points for job offers in NZ. Because if that the case I'm loosing some points. How about Qualification in an identified future growth , Can I claim that.

    Dear W&K ,

Do you have source to prove that i can claim either one of them ? i'm really confused if i can only claim one of them i can't reach to 140 level. ? pls send me the link.

    Thanks both.

    http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30594.htm
"the principal applicant has points for current skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment in an identified future growth area"

This mentions that bonus points of identified future growth area on work experience and also qualification can only be claimed if you have current skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment, which means you must have the skilled job offer in NZ.

    HI,

It says that "current skilled employment (anywhere in the world)or an offer of skilled employment (In new zealand) " , so if I do have a current skilled employment I should get points. It doesn't mention that current employment should in NZ. right ?

    HI,

    1. "This mentions that bonus points of identified future growth area on work experience and also qualification can only be claimed if you have current skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment," - I"m agree with that.

2."which means you must have the skilled job offer in NZ." - Yes job offer must be in NZ , but how about current skilled employment, if I have a current skilled employment I should be able to claim points.

    Further,

Basically to claim point i should have either,

    1. Current skilled employment in an identified future growth area OR
    2. An offer of skilled employment in an identified future growth area

So I can satisfy point no 1. which is Current skilled employment in an identified future growth area. What do you think ?

To get the points for Identified Future Growth Area (IFGA) you have to have a job in New Zealand working for a company that is in the specific industry. So, if for example, you are an IT specialist and meet all the requirements of Area of Absolute Skills Shortage (AASS) you can get those points. If the company itself is also in the ICT industry, then you can additionally get these points. However, if your job offer is from a company that say, manufactures engines, and you happen to be their IT person, you are not entitled to IFGA points. The IFGA relates to the employer where you are working in NZ or that has offered you a job in NZ. If you don't have a job in NZ you cannot claim these points. If you want to send me a private message I will do you a free assessment of your exact points. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30554.htm

Karen, I should point out, is a Licensed Immigration Adviser, so you can trust that she is telling you correctly.

Haz001, I can understand that you are anxious to claim as many points as possible. You are trying to interpret the requirements in such a way as to justify the number you thought you could get. But please trust those of us who have been looking at these things for years, and have seen from experience what INZ mean by these (possibly slightly ambiguous) phrases.
