jandm again sorry to bother you but i couldn't find any info about this issue online, as you already know there's offices in each country to submit immigration forms and requests. if i started with one office (moscow cause i'm working here now) and i had to move to another country (not for sure but IF) is it easy to request that my file be moved to the designated new office? or when i start with one i should finish with one?

    thx

It's really easy. You put your application in at the office it tells you, according to where you are living. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/ex...96DF2B84F2.htm If you move, you need to tell INZ anyway, so they can still communicate with you if they need to, and if ever they see that you have moved out of the area covered by the office where you have first sent your application, they automatically transfer your file to the other office that covers where you have gone to live. Any official working on your file records what s/he has been doing, and the INZ computer system is shared by all the INZ offices, so if a new CO has to take on your case, s/he will just pick up from where the previous one left off.

how much it takes to get residence visa after receiving work visa?
and time between residence and PR?
    and between PR and citizenship?

if there's an answer already in this forum i'd be happy if someone shared the link..

    thx
    Hi,

You may find the blog post here useful, this details the "work to residence" stream

Also you may find this post useful which lists the skilled Migrant option. Often the 2 streams are confused so have a read of both of them.

    4. You can't join kiwisaver until you have Residence. http://www.kiwisaver.govt.nz/new/join/who-can/
    Hi Jandm,

I am currently thinking about getting insurance and joining kiwisavers so I thought I will barge in on this conversation. I heard the govt hospitals are overloaded so people need to wait a long time to get treatment or operation. It is much faster if you go private but it is expensive without the insurance. Can forum members share your experience on this? I am especially interested in hearing from members from the south island.

Kiwisavers: It seems from reading some banks' website that only those with permanent residency can join Kiwisavers. Residents cannot join until they convert to PR. The govt's website is not very clear on this...it doesn't use the term Residents or PR.

    cheers,

    The government's website IS clear.
You can join KiwiSaver if you're:

a New Zealand citizen, or entitled to live in New Zealand indefinitely
Once you have Residence you are entitled to stay and work in NZ for life.

The confusion on bank sites arises because, until November 2010, the visa one got when applying successfully under SMC was called PR. (What is now PR was called PR with Returning Resident's Visa.) When INZ decided to change the terminology, they unfortunately used the same name again for something different. See here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra.../residence.htm A lot of institutions haven't even yet caught up, and changed their printed information or web pages.
