Default What kind of job offer do we need to apply SMC?

Hi all... We are applying RV under SMC (EOI 155 w/o job offer). However our EOI point is likely to drop to 100 if they only consider Fisheries Modeling, not the general Statistician.

My husband is trying to find a job during application processing time in case the point drop. Is it need to be a professional job in the LTSSL? Or it could be any related profession?

For example the LTSSL listed Statistician (Fisheries Modeling). If he got job offer in general Statistic, is it still counted for point?

For the purpose of SMC, the LTSSL is not very important - unless you go through Work to Residence pathway.
It only needs to be a SKILLED job. For example, somebody with a bachelor of planning, working as an urban planner can clearly apply for residency based on SMC. (Please note urban planner is a skilled job, but not on STSSL or LTSSL).
A job is deemed to be skilled if:-
    - It's on the skilled job list: http://skillshortages.immigration.govt.nz/
    - You have the qualification to do it. Clearly somebody with a diploma in nursing cannot do the job of an urban planner.

Thank you very much for the quick answer. Then a general statistic is ok with him then.

Is it need to be a full time and do it need to have at least how long contract? (one year? six months?)

    Thank you!

Yes, a general statistician's job would be fine. It must be a full-time job, and either a permanent contract, or at least a 12-months' contract, if it can be shown that contractual working is normal for that career, and that it is likely a further contract will be offered to follow on afterwards. See SM7.10 and SM7.15 here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30545.htm Also, see this other thread. http://www.enz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47725
