Default What does Residency allow me to do?

    Kia Ora ENZ,

I just had my residency approved and am now planning the future and what I want to do from here. What does a Residency allow me to do that I should take advantage of? Here is the list I've made so far:

    - Subsidized/public healthcare
    - Kiwisaver
    - Credit Cards
    - Investment in shares

I am not sure if this is the right part of the forum to post this in but your opinion and inputs will be highly appreciated!

Import all your worldly goods when you move there, without paying duty. (See the NZ customs website for the formalities.)
Attend university as a domestic student - but you're not eligible for any NZ government student loan until after being a Resident for three years.
Work at any job you're offered - skilled or not.
    Start a business.
Live there and do nothing, if you can afford it.

Get to use the Residents Queue at the Immigration Counter when arriving at NZ, and a good chance the person will say "Welcome Home".

You will have travel conditions... which needs to be removed / extended end of the 2nd year.
As JandM said, StudyLink loan is after 3 - years.
I think you can't purchase rural land... :-)

Someone posted this on another thread. Thought it was a good summary of what the benefits of a PR is:
