Default ShakeOut this Thursday at 9.15am for all NZ

Part of living in NZ is being aware of our new environment. For some of us the range of possible natural disasters here is completely new.
As newcomers to the country it can be hard to know how to get information and prepare...well wonder no more!

The site has lots of great ideas on how to prepare and what to do. It's really worth having this conversation with your family - for example, where will you meet them? How will you communicate with no phones? Who will pick up the kids?

PS. If you can't do it then, you've still got 2 weeks to do it in and be counted in the final count.

There was a great response to ShakeOut today! Here's some interesting press coverage.

If you couldn't do it today, you can still sign up this month to be counted in the overall count, which so far is a third of the population! Pretty good I'd say and it has prompted so many great discussions about what to do if an earthquake happens when you're driving or out in the open, or etc, you get the picture. It's about public awareness and being prepared. Are you prepared?
