Question Employee of a Relocating Company

    Hi there,

The company I work for wants me to move to NZ to help expand their market. I have looked at the "Employees of a Relocating Company" category, but it isn't particularly clear on a couple of things:

    1. Does the company actually have to change it's location to NZ?
    2. How will my visa work?
    3. The only paperwork I can find is for the Entrepreneur Residence Application, is there a separate application for the "employees of a relocating company"?

Thank you all for you help!

    Thank you,

I just want to be crystal clear about one thing before action:

When they say "relocating", does it actually mean that the whole headquarters and operations have to be moved, or does it mean (as I hope) that we can open a branch in NZ to help expand our business?

    Thank you!

Let's see what the LIAs say about this - Karen Phillips and ChrisMwn, can you shed some light, please?

Or am I reading this all wrong? Should I just apply under the Skilled Migrant Category and have my current employer be the "job offer".

We don't want to move all operations over, just open a branch.

    Thank you!

I've only ever heard of one other application under this category, so its rarely used. If your company simply wants you to work in New Zealand (even if there is no NZ company) then "specific purpose" work visa is appropriate. if you wanted to go on and make n application under SMC, then a NZ employment contract would be required. PM me if you like.
