    Default Sponsoring a new partner

Hi, I am a New Zealand resident. I sponsored my former partner of 6 years for residency and the paperwork came through last March (for both of us). We have since split up and I am now in a relationship with someone else who does not have a visa. From what I can gather I cannot sponsor another partner for a residency visa for another few years but can my new partner get a temporary work visa? Would my former partner lose her visa? Thanks in advance for your responses.

You aren't eligible to sponsor a second partner for any kind of visa until five years have passed since your first partner got her visa. http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/EligibleSponsor.htm

Once your former partner was granted Residence, that is HER visa, without conditions. She does not depend on you for her status any more.

Thanks for the quick reply. Glad to know my former partner wouldn't have been affected. Looks like I might have to move.
