Talking Type of medical test as partner of student visa

    Hi everyone,

Could someone confirm the type of medical test required as partner of student visa for a course duration of 18 months or 1.5 years? The partner who needs to appear for the medical test would apply for dependent visa and would also be eligible for an open work permit for exactly the same duration as the student visa holder.

I'm confused if it's only a chest x-ray certificate or a general medical certificate as mentioned here:

    http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...hcharacter.htm

The confusion is because for both general medical certificate and chest x-ray certificate it's mentioned as:

You must use the General Medical Certificate if one of the following applies to you: you are applying for a temporary entry class visa for New Zealand and you intend to stay longer than 12 months

You must use the Chest X-ray Certificate if one of the following applies to you: you are applying for a temporary entry class visa and you intend to stay longer than 12 months.

    Thanks for any advice.

You will have to have a general medical AND an X-ray. But it looks to me as though the writing on this page has not been changed since the introduction of eMedicals. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...a/emedical.htm I am not certain that YOU, the applicant, still have to provide the form(s) - I think it's possibly done on computer by the doctor. When you have decided which panel doctor to use, probably the best thing is to ask them when you are making your booking exactly what you have to bring, and whether you have to book your X-ray separately.

And is there anyone in India who has recently been through this process and can give the information, please?

Thank you JandM. The consultant has said that only an X-ray would do.

But your advice to complete General Medical (Form 1007) and X-Ray (Form 1096) is what will be followed.

See the more detailed version of the regulations here. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/46507.htm
