    Default PAR For EOI submission

    Hi,

My experience is about 13+ years in IT industry, Qualification in B.Sc Zoology. Age is 35 and have scored 6.5 in IELTS.

I got 150 points in my EOI request, I've recently submitted my profile in New Zealand immigration site and my request was declined due to below reasons.

    1. Only your 1 year 8 months’ work experience as IT Specialist from IBM is recognized, because your occupation IT Specialist is relevant to occupation listed on Appendix 6, and IBM is headquartered in USA, which is a comparable labor market, so your 1 year 8 months’ work experience from IBM is recognized. Your claimed work experience from other companies is not currently recognised. But because the minimum requirement for having recognized work experience is 2 years, therefore, no points can be awarded to you for having recognized work experience at this stage. Hence the points which i gained for experience was lost.

    2. You claimed 50 points for your qualification. But your qualification, Bachelor of Science in Zoology from University of Madras, is not currently recognized, because it does not list on LQEA as a recognized qualification and you did not provide evidence from NZQA to prove your qualification has been assessed by NZQA as a recognized qualification. Therefore, points for having a recognized qualification cannot be awarded at this stage.

After explaining the officials about my experience that the Companies which i worked earlier are Globally registered, eventhough their base location is in India. All my previous experiences are in IT Software development, they agreed that all my previous experiences would be considered. They stated to lodge fresh EOI by getting Preliminary qualification assessed by NZQA.

Please let me know whether my Degree (B.Sc Zoology) would be recognised by NZQA and can i lodge a new EOI ?

    Thanks

You need to look at this NZQA page http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/qualificatio...ns-assessment/, and also at the links from that page with the Guide, and more details about required documents. You will send all the details of your course, and NZQA will look at the subjects covered, for how long, and to what depth. They will then pronounce what NZ Level your degree is, and they will also (equally importantly) say to what if any current NZ qualification it can be compared. The specific statement of what degree it is comparable to is what is required to get you any bonus points under LTSSL for qualification and work experience in an Area of Absolute Skills Shortage, if your job is LTSSL. In order to ask NZQA to check for comparability, you need to use the form at Appendix B here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...ifications.pdf, filling in the ANZSCO code for your career.

When you have got the IQA, you will be able to tell what points you are eligible for, and if it is worth putting in a new EOI.

I think you may have difficulty because your bachelor's degree does not match the field in which you have been working, however.

Thank you for your swift reply.

So I can apply for IQA directly instead of PAR for submitting my EOI request ?

Yes correct, PAR can only be used for EOI process, but to submit ITA, you would need IQA, so better to apply for IQA directly, also PAR is waste of time & money and based on the tittle/description of degree . For deatils follow the links mentioned by JandM.

    Hi Balaji,

As JandM mentioned, your bachelor's degree is not matching the field in which you have been working currently. In that case I am not sure whether you are able to get bonus points. Also India degree only fetch you a generic outcome in the IQA.

    Hi Balaji,

Vitajaj is true....you bachelor degree in zoology will not give any bonus points for qualifications with IT experience and hence you whole experience will not be considered ...So, I think you are unable receive bonus points for qualification and all the points for work experience....

You can only apply for zoological occupations if any with your zoological qualifications.

This is my assumption and I hope somebody will give you more light

I am getting nervous by seeing that I will not get points due to my qualification. Will the NZQA would not consider my 13 year IT experience? People who have real experience will not be considered due to qualifications is a worrying factor.

Hi balaji...the immigration policy states that qualification and experience should match for obtaining bonus points...Don't be nervous and please try to read thoroughly, the immigration manual for SMC visa for detailed version.

This is a situation that occurs particularly with people working in IT, because it is such a new industry. There are many senior people who came into it from other backgrounds, and helped to evolve the systems as they are now, which present-day newcomers are being taught in university.

The trouble is that INZ have an in-built expectation that a career path runs study>qualification>work experience - there is no way one can readily demonstrate practical ability, learnt outside the educational establishment to them in a way they can accept.

For this reason, the route to a NZ visa for you would probably need to be by getting the offer of a job in NZ first (probably by making a visit to NZ to be available to meet potential agents and employers, and doing some cold-calling). With a job offer, you would probably not need bonus points to get the total required (100 with a job) to have your EOI selected. And in that case, work experience will substitute for a qualification.

    Hi Balaji,

Am in the same boat as you are, you stated

After explaining the officials about my experience that the Companies which i worked earlier are Globally registered, even though their base location is in India. All my previous experiences are in IT Software development, they agreed that all my previous experiences would be considered. They stated to lodge fresh EOI by getting Preliminary qualification assessed by NZQA.
Could you please elaborate what evidences you presented to immigration officers as the companies you worked are globally registered ?

    Thanks,
