    Default Cannot be recognized my 10 years work experience

    Hi Experts,

    I got a mail from EOI department. They said,
    ==============================================
    As your qualification, Bachelor of Science in Computing, was obtained on 2014. Therefore, it does not appear that you have three years’ relevant work experience gained after you obtained your qualification Therefore, we are unable to grant you 10 points as claimed for
    ==============================================
    Yes, I completed my Bachelor Degree in 3/2014, but I have more than ten years work experience in I.T. field.

    May I know is it correct ?
    I can wait until Mar 2017 then re-submit my EOI again, but my age will go to the next category. That means, I might not have more than 140 points.

    Thanks so much in advance.

    "three years’ relevant work experience" - You have to convince your CO and show proof that you have gained experience related to your qualification, with pay slips, and any evidence you think might be useful. I claimed points from my part time work before I gained my degree, which is relevant work. =)

    Hi mlev.26s,

    Years of work experience in I.T. field and years of relevant work experience are two different things. Do you have testimonials/recommendation letters from your previous boss? Also I am not sure why the CO is making a flat rejection of your claimed work experience which you obtained before your bachelor's degree ?
    Lets wait for jandM's reply.

    SM11.10 and SM11.15 here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30567.htm show you the requirements for recognition of work experience.

    INZ's normal view of a career pattern is that one studies, then qualifies, then uses the knowledge gained for work experience. However, particularly with careers in IT, a new discipline, many of the people now in the field have started out in other areas of study, and have actually helped to evolve the knowledge that newcomers are now being taught in university courses. Some people have been able to bring evidence to show that they were working at a skilled level BEFORE gaining formal qualifications. But it takes evidence, and arguing the case. The basis for argument is SM11.10 a iii
    skilled, because it required, or enabled the principal applicant to gain specialist, technical or management skills and experience relevant to an occupation
    (my bolding)

    and SM11.10.5.

    Hi all, thanks for your recommendation.
    Actually, I don't have CO contact. I only received a mail from this mail address "No-Reply VS <No-Reply.VS@mbie.govt.nz>" and the subject is "EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: RETURNED TO POOL".

    The buttom of mail is show how to contact to them.
    If you have further queries regarding your EOI, you may contact:
    • call our Immigration Contact Centre on 0508 55 88 55 or 09 914 4100, or for those outside of New Zealand +64 9 914 4100.
    • find answers to frequently asked questions or lodge an email enquiry online at www.immigration.govt.nz/help.
    • if you currently live in China, you can find out how to submit an application and more at http://www.newzealandvisachina.com/

    How about just calling the call center hotline as outlined in your email there you can speak with an immigration officer 24 /7 and s/he can open your file and you can discuss your case with them and if they think you have a point or its relevant they will probably forward that to the right place in the system or make adjustments.

    I'm afraid that telephone answerers are not the qualified COs who deal with cases - they are a kind of human FAQ working from a database, so the answer they pull up depends on what area they access. They are not given discretion to decide anything, and different calls at different times can result in different answers to the same question. What the person on the phone sees of anyone's personal business entirely depends on what has so far been entered by officials who have been dealing with the case, and there is not direct contact from the one to the other.

    However, you might be able to get contact details from them for someone with authority to hear your arguments.
