    Default Applying SMC from ESV

    Hi guys,

I just have a question. My husband now is on a Essential skills visa with ICT Account Manager as his position but before that, he was working as a Technical Engineer in Singapore for the same company. Now, can he apply for SMC with the skill ICT ACCOUNT MANAGER even if he only has like 5 months.of experience?

We are planning not to claim any points with the work experience since he already have 140 points including Job in NZ..

    Please help

He will need to show that he is qualified for the job. The Skills Checker http://skillshortages.immigration.go...count-manager/ has this.

Requirements to claim points for skilled employment (Category A)

A relevant recognised qualification which is at, or above, the qualification level on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. The qualification must correspond to the skill level indicated for that occupation in the Australian New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO)
    OR
The relevant work experience that the ANZSCO indicates may substitute the required qualification
    OR
The relevant requirements specified in the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL) for your occupation (if your occupation is included in the LTSSL)
    OR
Five years of relevant work experience.
And ANZSCO 255211 says as follows.
Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
By the way, he only needs a minimum of 100 points for his EOI to be selected at the next draw, since he already has a skilled job in NZ.

So if its only 100, we can just skip claiming this points?

    He had NZQA done,
    Level 7 so 50 points
Job in NZ for 5 months now 50 points
    Age 25 points

    He now has 125 points

Still planning to claim partner, my school is exempted 20 points

That will work if his qualification is relevant for his present job. If it is, then no, he doesn't need the bonus points.

For ICT Account manager, is Level 7 Generic Outcome enough in NZQA? Or do we have to take IPENZ ( since he's an engineering degree ) ?

I think this is all getting a bit confused?

if there is a job offer as an ICT account manager he only needs 100 points.

Can he not make those up from Age, Job offer (Job offer outside Auckland???) and work experience?

There must be 5 years relevant work experience to substitute for the required qualification.

    See below for relevance:

SM11.10.10 Relevance of work experience to an offer of skilled employment in New Zealand

Work experience is relevant to a principal applicant's offer of skilled employment in New Zealand if an employer considers, and an immigration officer is satisfied that:
a.the work experience is directly applicable to the employment offered; and/or
b.the offer of employment could not reasonably have been made if the principal applicant did not have that work experience.

    @ChrismWn

    below are husband's points:

50 - currently employed in NZ for 6 months as ICT account manager
    50 - nzqa level 7 generice outcome
    25 - age

We cannot claim previous work experience as those were not ict managerial positions.

Now my question, can we still qualify even if he only has 6 months work experience total for nominated skill?
