Job offer without a job interview? Not even a Skype/phone interview??

We are overseas in Canada. My husband applied through trademe with his cv, reference letters and cover letter and got a reply back from a small workshop (he is a tradie) with a short description of their workshop there in NZ and a few questions about his experience and that they would like to offer him a position. We are abit wary and ofcourse did not jump to anything. Is it common in NZ? How reliable are job postings on trademe? Other than what's in the cv etc. No other info were given.

We are just in the early stage of applying for jobs so not many yet. He did have another reply back from another company but he asked for a Skype interview, so we are less worried about that.

It's not as uncommon as you may think. Have you tried "Googling" his company, he's bound to be on the internet in some form giving his 'credentials'.
