About police certificates.
Hi guys,
I am originally from Vietnam, and have been in NZ since I was 17 (and have not spent anytime in VN since). I want to ask if there is anyway I can avoid having to obtain police certificate from Vietnam? It is such a hassle to ask someone else to get the certificate, get it translated and what not; so be great if I can not have to do it every 2-3 years. thanks.

You will see from this that if you apply for a visa that requires character checks - that is, it doesn't follow on from another visa soon enough that the previous certificates will be accepted - then a certificate from Vietnam, being your country of origin and citizenship, will be required.
If you get NZ residence, then these Vietnamese certificates won't be required any more.

obtaining a Vietnamese PC is not that difficult. It will take 2-3 weeks if your relatives apply through the Ministry of Justice, as per instructions..
