    Default Immigration declare at airport

Hi all, flying from Bangkok to Auckland on Thai airways but connecting to Christchurch from Auckland with air New Zealand. It's all one reservation through our booking. We will check bags. Questions are: once we get to Auckland, do we need to go through immigration and custom, pick up bags and re check with air New Zealand or we do all that all in Christchurch? we only have 2 hours in Auckland I'm getting worried.

If we need to re check in in Auckland with air nz, I assume we follow their baggage allowance instead of Thai?

You can check with Thai Airways if they can check through your baggage. If they will, then you only have to go to the transfer lounge to get your boarding pass. 2hrs is a bit tight if you will need to re-check your baggage.

That might depend if you have one ticket to Christchurch, or seperate ones to Auckland with Thai and with Air NZ. The " most significant carrier ticket may apply if you can show Christchurch is your final destination on that ticket. that allows you to use the baggage allowance of your "most significant carrier" , which is Thai.
Two hours should be suficcnet to transit AKL international but you do need to recheck your bags after clearing customs in Auckland.Again, if the airline has allowed you the transit on the one ticket, that should facilitate you.

It's still unclear to me whether we need to re check bag in Auckland or just immigration and custom only in Auckland then pick bags in Chc? We also have items to declare.

yes you must uplift bags in Auckland, clear then through customs and then depending on the amount of time that you have available, either take them to the domestic transfer desk in the International terminal (just outside Customs) or taker them to the domestic terminal (10 minutes walk). You can check in bags at the transfer desk up to 60 minutes before domestic flight and up to 30 minutes prior to flight at domestic terminal
