how soon I may apply for Permanent Residency after getting offer letter

Hi Buddies

Please advise I have recently got an offer to work as a doctor in Southern NZ, may I start my Permanent Residency application now before arriving in NZ on the basis of my offer letter?
How to start the process?
All your kind suggestions/ advises will be appropriated

You can apply immediately for Residence under SMC on the basis of this job offer. (PR is a totally different visa which you can apply for after living for at least two years in NZ as a Resident.)

Presumably you will be being sponsored for a temporary work visa by your employer, so you can start work as soon as possible. You can apply for Residence under SMC alongside this. Rather than using the website's own points indicator, which can be misleading, I recommend looking here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/6954.htm where SM6 has a chart of all possible points, and the other sections tell you the exact requirements for claiming.

JandM thank you very much for your kind and comprehensive reply, the job offer is fixed term for 07 months after that I have to reapply at the same hospital or may be different hospital does it make any difference for applying under Residence under SMC?

Yes, that does make a difference. You won't be able to apply for residence under SMC on the basis only of that contract. See SM7.15 b. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30549.htm So you'll have the work visa you are being initially sponsored for, which will match the length of the contract. When you reapply and get the next job, and the next, etc., you will have to apply for a work visa to match each time. When you have this history of contract work, then you will meet the requirements of SM7.15 b iii, and at that point you will be able to apply for residence under SMC.

Hope to get a batter job offer but I dont want to miss this oppertunity to step-in Nz I think with MCNZ registration and physically in NZ will improve my chances to get another job

Secondly I saw in one of the posts that someone has applied Under SMC even witout job offer so is it possible? as you said I cant submit EOI with 07 months contract job offer.

You can apply under SMC without a job offer if your personal details (not including a job offer) entitle you to claim 140 points or more on your EOI.

With a job offer, you can claim under SMC with a minimum of 100 points.

Since you have been talking all along about claiming on the basis of this job offer, I've assumed that you need job offer points, which this particular contract doesn't give you.

If you look at the regulations http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/6954.htm, how many points can you get ONLY on the basis of factors not connected to the job offer?

Please let me know if I will be on essential skill work visa what type of visa my children will get? all of them are school going age.
My wife is a doctor but currently she is not eligible to register with MCNZ will she get work visa?

Your children will need a student visa each. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...iningmyfamily/ You fill in the form as if you were the child, then you sign on their behalf at the end, as their parent.

Your wife will need to apply for a partner-sponsored temporary work visa. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...milystream.htm The word 'work' in the title does not mean that she has to have a job at all, but that she is allowed to work if she wishes. This could be at any job, and doesn't have to be skilled, because this is an open visa, not restricted as your work visa is.

You can send off these applications all together, linked with a covering letter to your work visa application, then they will be processed as one case, and the CO will supply information you won't know at first, like your own visa number, as it becomes available.
