Default Lawn Bowling and Temperatures in NZ

My husband and I are lawn bowlers from Canada. We usually go to Florida in the winter, but are thinking that in the winter of 2017-2018, we would like to do something different and were considering going to NZ. Our winter, your summer, December to March! However, we are not really interested in being cold - only places with daytime temps over 20 degC would be of interest to us, and of course they must have lawn bowling. We would be looking for accommodations in the area also, about 3 - 4 months. How does the NZ currency compare to the Canadian $? Lots of questions - hopefully will be able to get informative answers!
