    Default Partner's skilled employment

    Hi all,
We are in the process of drafting our online EOI. I am the main applicant and I would ask about my partner's job. His job title is Diversional Therapist (which is in part C of the list of skilled occupations). He has the corresponding qualification which is National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (level 4). He also has a full time ongoing contract. However, his expperiences in this job is only 8 months.

I learn from immigration website that people with the jobs in part C should have at least 3 - year experiences in order to claim points for the skilled employment section. In our case, my partner does not have enough experiences, but as he is not the main applicant, would it be possible for him to claim points for skilled employment?

Thank you everyone and have a nice time.

No, he can't claim for this. Here http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/30562.htm are the requirements, including meeting what is said in SM7 http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/46411.htm, which is the place that mentions the requirement for three years' experience for any job in Section C.

But - you are in NZ, aren't you? In which case you only need a minimum of 100 points to get your EOI selected. No need to put things on the form to get you more than the basic minimum, because every extra thing will need to be verified, and will make the processing take extra time.

Yes, we are now in NZ. I agree with you completely on what you said! In this sense, the option I should pick is "none of the above", isn't it?

L1. Are you claiming points for your partner’s skilled employment?
Offer of skilled employment in New Zealand
Current skilled employment in New Zealand for 12 months or more
Current skilled employment in New Zealand less than 12 months
    None of the above

    Thank you very much.
