    Default driving license info

    Hello,

One of my friend has pass full driving test of his home country. Now he is traveling to nz but he will get his license after his arrival in nz via post.
Is it okay if he arrives before then get his driving license with present date.
For example he arrives on 25 june and he will get his license on 10july
Will that type of license will be acceptable for 12 months driving in nz
The date written on the license will be 10 July.

He probably shouldn't drive before the license arrives. At that point he will have one year to convert it to a NZ license.

Ah, I see. I was misreading what you had written. Yes, he should have his licence on him when driving, with a translation if it is not in English.

He can use his foreign license for 12 months after arrival in NZ, as long as he hasn't been granted any NZ licence. Once he gets any NZ licence, even a restricted one, he mustn't drive on the foreign one any more, but must keep to the conditions of the NZ one.

He is in nz now. Now he will go to nzta agent to get advice regarding his issue. Thanks for the reply.
