I applied for a work visa (student and trainee category) about a month ago from Shanghai consulate. Visa officer contacted me about 3 weeks ago. VO did not contact with my host university in NZ as well my university in China. The expected visa processing time period is almost over, I am wondering if it is compulsory for visa officers to contact with universities or they rarely do this? I have a feeling that they only contact if they are about to issue visa. Please clarify it. They have scanned copies of all the relevant letters.
