Interim Visa to Work Visa

Hi,

I had a doctoral student visa which got expired on 31st May and lodged an application for new student visa on May 9th. I got a skilled full time job related to my field. I didn't get any updates on my student visa as of now and at the moment I am on Interim visa. I am planning to quit my PhD. I would like to apply for a work visa while on Interim visa, not sure if its possible. Need advice.

I don't think there's anything against your applying for the work visa while on an interim visa. No applications are accepted from anyone who isn't on some sort of legal visa at the time of lodgement, but that's not your situation.

Can any of the legal people comment, please?

I1.20 After the interim visa is granted

The holder can not apply for a visa of any other class or type while the interim visa is current.
