Default Temporary, affordable rental in Auckland

Does anyone know of a good place to rent for 1-3 months on first landing in Auckland? Most places I've asked charge from NZD600 per week and up for a very basic studio or 1 bedroom. Anywhere more affordable? Unfortunately relocating from South Africa and our exchange rate isn't exactly great.

What parts of Auckland have you been looking at? Have you tried holiday rentals, AirB&B etc?

Room Rental typically is about 200/wk from Trade Me.
House Rental would be about 500/wk from Trade Me. Of course both are affected by locations.

Motels or AirBnB is like to be about 100/day ++. So it will be less cost-effective.

    Ah ... yes.

That's a good link heiryz! I am looking for accommodation too as well now that I have fixed my flight on the 5th Dec. And I just managed to resolve an issue with Trade Me. Apparently registered accounts outside AU/NZ needs manual approval from the technical support.

Price seems reasonable as well ... an alternative to Trade Me.

Wow! That's fast! Did you try applying for job back home in Malaysia prior to arriving in NZ? How did it fare?

applied from offshore, without any success. Once I arrived here, I kept applying, send emails to recruitment agencies / SEEK / TradeMe / LinkedIn / went to potential companies websites and apply online / subscribed for job alerts until I got positive replies. It was tough, really tough.

My initial plan was to say "Yes, I can work anywhere" but it won't work that way. If you want to stay in Welly, make your plan to stay in Welly. If you plan to stay in Auckland, make your plan to stay in Auckland. that's what happened to me, it might / might not apply to you later on
