First part of my journey to NZ is over, I received AIP!

Good time of the day to everyone!

I have been following this forum mostly silent. Only once I posted a question about IPENZ and thanks to vitajaj I understood how to proceed with the easiest way to the letter from IPENZ.

My wife was sceptical but now that we received AIP she is very happy and enthusiastic. We started to brainstorm how to make our move. We are a little concerned about how to get the accommodation in NZ (temporary and first year rent) for newcomers and also about the quality of the houses (feedback from most of people on the web is that they are cold, humid, poor isolation, etc). Anybody has experience building their own home in NZ? How difficult is to get all permits for construction and how to find a good contractor to build the house?

As you can see now that I have the AIP more and more questions start to pop up.
