Hi All,
Quick question, can someone apply for SMC without a level 7 qualification if his points exceeds 140?
Thanks.
Hi All,
Quick question, can someone apply for SMC without a level 7 qualification if his points exceeds 140?
Thanks.
I know from your other thread that you work in telecoms.
ANZSCO has this for Telecommunications Engineering Professionals.http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@....+ProfessionalsMost occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
And the Skills checker has this.http://skillshortages.immigration.go...ions-engineer/A relevant recognised qualification which is at, or above, the qualification level on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. The qualification must correspond to the skill level indicated for that occupation in the Australian New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO)
OR
The relevant work experience that the ANZSCO indicates may substitute the required qualification
OR
The relevant requirements specified in the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL) for your occupation (if your occupation is included in the LTSSL)
OR
Five years of relevant work experience.
So, since INZ say they will accept what ANZSCO says, and ANZSCO says, "At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification," then that's the answer.
Someone with a skilled job in NZ only requires 100 points to get their EOI selected. 140 is the requirement for someone without a NZ skilled job or job offer.
Hi JandM,
My occupation is 313112 ICT Customer Support Officer. My NZQA is in trouble but Can I go ahead with my 6 years of experience? Can you have a look please.

INZ sayshttp://skillshortages.immigration.go...pport-officer/A relevant recognised qualification which is at, or above, the qualification level on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.
OR
Five years of relevant work experience.
and ANZSCO says
So with either three years' experience or five years' experience being mentioned as acceptable, it looks as though you should count as qualified for this job.In New Zealand:
NZ Register Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
At least three years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
However, you still have to get the 100 points minimum. Can you do this?
Thanks! JandM. Yes my points exceed 100 easily. Can you also advise me regarding the following
1- In order to claim points for qualification, Can I apply for EOI before getting NZQA result or do I have to wait for the outcome. I am asking as my police certificate expiry is near and I want to apply before that and I am not sure when IQA result will come out.
2- If I claim points for level-7 in EOI but the IQA outcome is something else, will my application be rejected or will they simply deduct the points.
3- How immigration verifies the previous experience? Do they send a questioner to the previous employer or is it just a phone call or a simple email? I am asking because I know they send a questioner to the current employer.
Thanks,
1. If you are mentioning the qualification, it either must be on the INZ exempt list, or you have to have the IQA already, and give its date and number.
2. And that previous answer makes this question redundant. You can't claim points for the qualification without the IQA already to hand.
3. I think it's usually an email or letter. Notice, INZ have the right to question people about information they need to have, in any way that seems most useful to them at the time, so what happens in one case isn't necessarily going to be the same as in another.
http://onlineservices.immigration.go...anual/6954.htm You can check the detailed regulations given here for claiming points. SM6 has a chart, and the other sections show the exact requirements for claiming under each heading.
Can you please advise what's the following means and what minimum IQA outcome can work for it? (e.g specific/non specific, level6/level5/level4/level3)
In New Zealand:
NZ Register Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
I don't know what the NZ Register Diploma is either, not having been through the NZ education system. Can someone step in and explain, please?
So I've received my IQA non specific outcome which is "A qualification at level 7".
Can I claim points for it if I go ahead with 313112 ICT Customer Support Officer under SMC?
Yes, you can. You can claim 50 points for your Level 7 qualification. http://onlineservices.immigration.go...nual/42637.htm As it's non-specific, you can't claim any bonus points under LTSSL, but assuming you have the points for your job and past experience, you don't need them.
