Hi Guys,
Would like to start off by thanking everyone participating and assisting others in their free time. I have gone through a lot of topics and it has helped me a lot.
Before I forget I am an NZ citizen
I met with an adviser today asking about CAM visas since I got introduced to someone through family with the intent of marriage in June while overseas. We hit it off, spent time together, traveled around, etc. I was thinking I would fall under this category if I were to have him join me in NZ early 2017. I know he would come on a visitor's visa, we have to marry within 3 months and follow the INZ process of work visa under partnership and then later residence. The adviser however told me that CAM applications are scrutinized a lot by INZ due to it's nature of an 'arranged association'. Some people have abused it and apparently there have been cases of domestic violence instances once the spouse is here. He told me my chances are better/the process lot simpler if I were to marry my partner overseas and then apply for a 'Temporary Visitor's visa based on Partnership' whereby we build towards living together in NZ taking it from there. I am unsure how this visa will pan out since we don't fulfill the 'living together' requirement nor have a lengthy relationship to demonstrate.
By experience has anyone else on this forum gone through the culturally arranged marriage visa process? Is the other option more preferable than this?
What does anyone think?
Many thanks in advance.
