Processing duration at Immigration Profiling Branch

Hi, I am on a postgraduate student visa, living in NZ, and recently applied for my wife and children visit visa (partnership based temporary visa application). I submitted the forms at Christchurch office three weeks ago. And recently received an acknowledgement email from Immigration Profiling Branch which says that it will be allocated to a case officer in 25 days time, after which the decision will be taken.

Just wanted to know that how much time does it takes at immigration profiling branch to process a visit visa case? And does every visit visa case goes towards IPB?

I haven't seen another case on the forum of a visit visa being referred to IPB, so I doubt there will be anyone with experience to share. No, not every visitor visa application goes to IPB. IPB is involved if the people live and worked or have lived and worked in a country which has a record of oppression or involvement with terrorism, to check that they have not had any responsibility for such things.

That list is not disclosed by INZ. What passport does your wife hold?

Updates: got the visit visa. Sharing the timeline ~

Application submitted in Christchurch office: second week of Aug
Received first call from Christchurch office: third week of Aug
Received acknowledgement email from Immigration Profiling Branch, Wellington: last week of Aug
Application accepted for processing: second week of Sep
First contact from IPB for further documents: last week of Sep
Documents submitted: first week of Oct
Final decision for successful application: third week of Oct

Total duration for processing: 9 weeks
