Default Resident Visa - Partnership Timeline Update

    Hello all:

I am writing this timeline to help someone may want to or applying for the Resident Visa - Partnership at the moment some ideas.

Me and my partner have known each other about 2 years, and we've been living together for more than since Feb of 2015. I got my 1 year Work Visa based on our partnership, and I lodged my Resident Visa on June of this year. We are living in Wellington, therefore, my application with Wellington Branch.

    Update Timeline:

    20/06/16 Application Loged
28/06/16 Application Received / Fees paid at the same day
27/07/16 Documents returned, waiting for allocate to a CO
31/08/16 CO Allocated, initial assessment completed, being asked to provide more evidence in the last 12 months, relationship development letter and complete NSC form
06/09/16 Drop further documents back to branch

I'm from China. I don't know how long will take to get NSC result, but CO said they can not proceed my application until the NSC result comes back. So, I guess the only thing I need to do is wait. Hope everything good to you.

    Hi all :

Here is timeline for my wife's application with Bangkok Branch :

    Lodged application on 07/07/2016
CO request Relationship Chronology on 09/08/2016
    Send Relationship Chronology 10/08/2016
    Resident visa approved on 15/09/2016

Guess it takes much longer if you do it in NZ rather than oversea branch.

I am not sure whether it's a mandatory thing to do if you are applying for Residence Class Visa. From what I heard and saw, it seems you do need to go through some extra procedures unless you are applying for temporary visas.

INZ have to get NSC on certain people, based on their nationality, and also which countries they may have lived and worked in. It checks whether the person was employed at all in any position where they might have had responsibility for anti-human rights repressive measures, terrorism, etc.. It can take a long time because the foreign country often does not have any urgency about replying to NZ.

27/09/16 Received a Letter from Ministry of Justice, criminal convictions result shows clean. (Not sure is part of NSC or not)
