    Default Spark Wireless Broadband Modem

Anyone with experience with the new Spark Wireless Broadband Modem system? (introduced April)

We currently have Vodafone adsl and its terrible. Also no sign of UFB in the immediate future.

What exactly are you trying to ascertain regarding the modem?

It was just a query to see if anyone was using Spark or Skinny Wireless Broadband in their property instead of the ADSL,VDSL or UFB options? We have decided to go with Skinny 100gb for $50 so will see how it goes. Its a very new system in NZ and haven't seen a lot of information.

If all you have is ADSL at your location, the modem won't make much difference unless the existing modem is faulty... Presumably you are not using the wireless features of the vendor provided modem, as they are all limited and useless.

We are cancelling our ADSL with Vodafone due to various reasons! Rubbish product, atrocious customer service, multiple calls placed on hold, changing our order without notification etc.

Skinny/Spark have a new wireless broadband that uses 4G (think its like a mobile hotspot but not using your expensive mobile phone data) so eliminates the shoddy cables in our street. They claim download speeds averaging 30mbps (people claiming to get up to 80mbps) whereas our ADSL was below 12mbps.

Hiya.... We've just cancelled our Spark broadband and landline package as we rarely use our landline and have signed up with Skinny 4G. No problems so far....

    Good to hear!

Our skinny is pretty reliable and appears to be far better than the Vodafone rubbish we had. The speeds can sometimes fluctuate a during the evening. Our only issue is that we seem to be churning through the 100gb at an alarming daily rate.

We've just signed up to Spark VDSL, unlimited GB (Skinny wireless not available at our address) and got them to match a Vodafone offer of $64.99 a month, free router. This only happened this week so can't vouch for the service yet but just to say that if you play them off against each other you can get the price down.

I'm using Spark Wireless Broadband with free Router, including phone connection, so far no complaints. I did find them very helpful with the changeover.

I believe there are no real differences between competitors. They all saddle their services on existing infrastructure. It is one of the most misleading, in-transparent industries in the world. Check your address here: https://www.chorus.co.nz/broadband-checker

    ...then you know, the status-quo.

When we landed in NZ Chorus promised to bring VDSL to our street in 2016, last year they changed it to 2019. If you sit in an high-end street of Auckland you may get it, but everything else is just speculation. There is not reliable broadband strategy in place.
